Translation is my vocation. Language has fascinated me since childhood and when, in my teens, I lived in the United States with my family, I discovered that I also had an aptitude for it. I knew that working with language is what I wanted to spend my life doing.

My academic career began with the study of linguistics and French language and culture. Later, I studied business administration, economics and East Asian Studies, specializing in Japanese language and culture.

After earning my BA, I turned my attention to the study of the art and structure of English language translation.  During my academic studies, I had the opportunity to explore a range of fields as disparate as advanced statistics, historical linguistics, and the Welsh language.

Translation is a wonderful profession and I'm passionate about it. It allows me to give expression to my many interests and life experiences. I am constantly stimulated by its sheer variety and challenges. Being a translator is part of my identity and central to my life.

Even though my craft is practiced in solitude - just me and my computer - I have infinite resources at my disposal. In addition to the invaluable resource of the web, I belong to a supportive community of colleagues who are always available when called upon to supply the right word or phrase. My work also allows me to work anywhere in the world. A few years ago, I took advantage of this flexibility to spend a year in the Far East with my family; it was a truly enriching experience, both personally and professionally.
